9/4/25-525,600 minutes

I don’t think most of you would put me down as a mucical theater person. I;m probably actually not, but I did grow up going to the theater with my sister and Grandma. We saw thinkgs like “Guys and Dolls” and “Annie.”

As I grew up my trips to the theater stopped.

But over the last few years I have found renewed interest in enjoying a show. Some of my favorite times in Las Vegas included a live show. I never missed a the evening performce at the cruise theater when we took our family cruises together.

I like how musicals have creeped back into the main stream with movies like “The Greatest Showman.” Although, I could definitely do without “Hamilton,” a travesty of history and assault on the ears.

But this post isn’t about my critical reviews of musicals and musical theater.

I don’t know much about “Rent.” I don’t think its something I would have liked. That being said there is a song called “Seasons of Love.” It talks about savoring the minutes in a year (525,600). That is something that has come up recently in my reflections.

When I turned 50, I thought I had decades to live. When I was diagnosed with cancer 16 months ago, the doctor mentioned years. With how I have felt over the past I think we are shifting to months. Soon that will be weeks, than days, hours and minutes.

What I am learning is it even though the time forward is shrinking I still need to savor the moments remaining. Live them to the fullest.

“Remember the love
Oh, you got to, you got to remember the love
Remember the love
You know that love is a gift from up above
Remember the love
Share love, give love, spread love.”

The best way to live them to the fullest is to remember the love, share the love, give love, spread love. Love is a gift from above, that I give to all of you.

Yes, Matt, it’s about love. You got it! I’m so glad you are surrounded by Cindy and your family. Though I haven’t seen you since you were a high schooler, I still care. My thoughts are with you. I know you are living your season of love.
